U.N., World Bank and IMF & their Food Riots

Over the last few days, representatives of the U.N. met with 27 international agency heads in the Swiss capital, Bern, to chart a solution to food price rises that have caused hunger, riots and hoarding in poor countries.

As reported by Reuters, the United Nations said today that “We consider that the dramatic escalation in food prices worldwide has evolved into an unprecedented challenge of global proportions.”

This group, consisting of the heads of U.N. agencies, funds and programs, the IMF and the World Bank under the leadership of U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon , will set priorities for a plan of action and make sure it is carried out.

The recent surge in food prices is said to be due to several factors, including:

  • increased demand in developing countries,
  • higher fuel costs,
  • drought in Australia,
  • the use of crops for bio-fuels,
  • and speculation on global commodity markets.

The group is also urging countries not to use export bans as a tool to maintain the food supply of their own country.

So let me get this straight:

  • World leaders (business, gov’t, NGO) use the IMF/World Bank to encourage the governments of ‘developing nations’ to sell farm land to multi-national corporations. Farm land that used to sustain the native population is used to grow flowers and other export-only crops like coffee and cocoa.
  • Al Gore and the environmental-industrial complex creates an atmosphere of fear and political correctness throughout the world. The expansion of bio-fuels is one of the results of this fear.
  • The financial leaders of the world create another world wide panic over sub-prime mortgages and the related ABCP.
  • We are told that the world is running out of oil.
  • We are told that as China & India grow, oil supplies will become more scare due to increased industrial and automotive use.

Now we are told that the world is running out of food.

What the @**&%$#??? Why do we give ‘these’ people any control over our lives?

  1. Stuff like this makes me want about half of earth’s population to just be wiped out. There’s just too many freaking people on this planet.

Also, have you read the article in Time magazine about how ethanol is a complete joke, and the scramble to produce it is actually producing more greenhouse gases than before? Hilarious.

  2. wipe out half the world’s population you say, hmmmmmmm…we could start with all of the people who buy American Idol, Celine Dion, Il Divo & Michael Buble CDs

  3. So do you have the answer as to why we give “these” people control over our lives?

This is why I don’t watch the news anymore, but instead find a lot of sources, major and obscure, to get information from and make my own opinion. “They,” meaning politicians and those who own media outlets, profit off our fear, and that’s why everyday on the news, there’s something different that’s wrong with the world that’s eventually going to kill us.

That’s funny about the ethanol tidbit.

  4. I have my theory as to why we give over control – It’s just easier that way.

Believe what you’re told on tv, believe what the gov’t says, believe that people in power would never lie

Don’t think too hard. Just get up and go to work. Pay your taxes. Buy another plasma tv. Sit home & watch American Idol.

I totally agree with you about sourcing out your news information. My bro-in-law works for the main stream news. As they say, “if it bleeds, it leads”

I am not saying that there is any ‘big brother’ conspiracy going on, just that some people know what they want and are willing to do whatever it takes to do it. Other people just want to get along.

How would you react if George Bush, Stephen Harper, etc.. came to your home tonight and told you that from now on, every Wednesday night was fish & chips night, BY LAW. No steak, no chicken, no pizza… fish.and.chips.

Hopefully, most of us would tell him to F*$@* OFF!

And yet, we hand over 50%+ of our income, and go outside of the bar to have a cigarette, and wear our seatbelts, and so on…

OK, too much politics…next post..diet review, I promise
