Cure for Adolescent Obesity

Believe it or not….the latest medical research shows that adolescents (aged 15-19) who enrolled in a 12 month program of:

  • Aerobic training combined with
  • Resistance training

were able to significantly improve their levels of:

  • Body Mass
  • Body Mass Index
  • Fat Mass
  • Visceral Fat
  • % Obesity
  • Total Cholesterol
  • Waist Circumference
  • Blood Glucose
  • Adiponectin

This ain’t rocket science. If your teenager is overweight & out of shape, they NEED to exercise. And cleaning up their diet wouldn’t hurt either.

BTW, this advice doesn’t just work for adolescents.

  1. You hit the nail on the head. In this day and age we are often looking for the magic bullet or should I say the quick tummy tuck surgery to rid us of our weight problems. However, I have never known anyone to fail in losing weight and getting in better shape, who just does the correct exercise and eats a better diet. It is not fancy, sexy or rocket science – it just works…

  2. In our age – physical activity, so prevalent hen i was growing up is next to non-existent. Kids are spending more times in front of TV, computer, video games then outside.

    Any activity has obvious benefits and it is our responsibility as parent to push them into it.

  3. And don’t forget the other key element in this whole study — it was a 12 month program. This means that the teens were given continued support, encouragement, monitoring, and accountability for a reasonable amount of time so as to change their bodies and mindsets enough, hopefully, so as to gain the ability to SUSTAIN not only their new fit selves but, also, their lifelong committment to fitness and health.
