The Difference Between Can’t and Won’t

  • I can’t eat healthy all the time…
  • I can’t make it to the gym tonight…
  • I can’t go for a walk after dinner…
  • I can’t get my kids to stop eating junk food…
  • I can’t quit smoking…
  • I can’t do HIIT sprints…
  • I can’t stop eating grains…
  • I can’t resist the lure of a Starbucks Caramel Macchiatio…
  • I can’t…I can’t…I can’t….

The next time you think that you can’t do something… this .

  • You can eat healthy…you just won’t do it
  • You can make it to the gym tonight…you just won’t do it
  • You can go for a walk after dinner…you just won’t do it
  • You can get your kids to stop eating junk food…you just won’t do it
  • You can quit smoking…you just won’t do it
  • You can do HIIT sprints…you just won’t do it
  • You can stop eating grains…you just won’t do it
  • You can resist the lure of a Starbucks Caramel Macchiatio…you just won’t do it
  • You won’t…you won’t…you won’t…

Unless YOU decide that you will.

  1. Thanks for posting this. Not only was this inspirational, it give you something to think about as well as give you a “kick-in-the-butt” to go and do.

  2. Thanks for posting this!

I used to have this same “fire in the belly” when I was young, it didn’t matter what happened I would keep moving forward or die trying (and probably came close a couple of times, lol). It is still a part of me, but it has become so much easier to just give in and accept things these days. What happened to change me so drastically I wonder, I think its time to rekindle that fire and become the old me again.

    Thanks again!

  3. I have a new-found respect for Will Smith. He’s much more than a great actor – he is an idea, a movement, a concept that is worth spreading.

  4. I take a boxing class a few times a week that always ends with an abs workout that lasts at least 5 minutes. I’ve been doing it for long enough that I’ve improved at most of the exercises, but still often find myself struggling and sometimes giving up and letting my feet touch the ground, etc.

Last night during the abs workout, I thought about this video. I made and owned my decision to not quit, no matter what. And I made it! (And I’m sore in such a good way today)

This is a lot of text to describe a very small achievement, but I just wanted to share and say thanks.

  5. This is just awesome. I’ve always liked Will Smith but now I have a newfound respect for him. Surprisingly motivational interview in such a short period of time. I’m gonna go clean my apartment and then work my butt off studying for the rest of the night instead of sitting on the computer being lazy for a second longer…

  6. I wish you’d take out the walk after dinner one. I “won’t” do this because, as a woman, I don’t feel comfortable walking by myself at night, in the dark.
